Ephesians: A Musical Exposition

by Our Pilgrim Songs

/
1.
We were chosen and predestined by Your mercy, love, and grace For adoption as your children, long before the world was made Our salvation has been given through the blood of Jesus Christ His redemption and forgiveness makes us holy in His sight We sing glory Hallelujah by His mercy we are saved For apart from any merit we were chosen by His grace Now all glory, praise and honor will be given to His Name By the love of God His children have been saved We have heard the word of Truth and we believe in Jesus Christ We have followed and will follow through this battle known as life God secures us and preserves us by His Spirit we are sealed Holding fast to all His children, by the counsel of His will Blessed be the God and Father of our Savior Jesus Christ God the source of all our blessings now in heaven and in life Our inheritance is certain, our reward is foreordained So we stand upon the promises, Your faithful Word proclaims Soon the time will come and the Christ will reign Every knee will bow when they hear His Name All His saints rejoice, all creation sing Let Your kingdom come our King
2.
Father of glory of our Lord Jesus Christ, Give us a spirit of wisdom and sight Open the eyes of our hearts to perceive, Your lavish reward toward your saints who believe According to all of your glory and might, The endless abundance you promise in Christ Whom You raised in glory and sat by Your side, Above all authority, power, and might Jesus, Jesus, exalted above every ruler and king Jesus, Jesus, eternal dominion above everything Our Father subjected all things under Christ, And made him the Head of the Church in this life Now we are His body, the fullness of Him, Who fills every saint with His Spirit within All knees will bow, All tongues proclaim All knees will bow, All tongues proclaim All knees will bow, All tongues proclaim Jesus is Ruler above every Name
3.
We were dead in our sins, we had lost innocence We were sons of disobedience We were led by our lusts, our desires captured us We deserved the wrath of God to judge But God being rich in His mercy and love Poured out His wrath on His Son in place of us We’re made alive in Jesus Christ By grace we are saved through the faith given us Far away, torn apart, without hope and without God We were lost and separate from God Bringing peace by His blood, He redeems and ransoms us We rejoice, for Jesus died for us
4.
By grace we are saved through faith A faith that is given of God Not by our works that no one may boast For we are created in Christ We are His handiwork, made new in Jesus That we may now walk in good deeds Which God predestined before His creation To make all His children complete
5.
Remember we were at one time separate, apart from Christ Severed from the commonwealth of Israel Aliens and strangers to the covenants He swore to do Without hope and without God in this whole world By the blood of Christ, We have been brought near We are reconciled, We will persevere Jesus is our peace, Crushing strife and sin We are called the church, We are one new man We are now made citizens, children by our Father’s plan Gaining our inheritance through Jesus Christ He’s the costly cornerstone, the One the church is founded on We are now the temple where His Spirit hides Sin has been abolished, The Law has been fulfilled Enemies and sinners are now justified and sealed The barrier is broken, The church is unified The saints are now the temple that His Spirit occupies
6.
Veiled in mystery, In the shadow He Concealed His Servant in His quiver His Perfect Sharpened Arrow Formed within the womb, to bring Jacob home The Holy One, the Lord’s Redeemer A Light to all the nations The mystery of Jesus Christ, that Jew and Gentile now unite The Father made His Son a Light to gather all His children The church the Lord’s eternal plan, concealed until the Son of Man Was born and died and raised again, and now He calls His children to Him We are fellow heirs of inheritance Partakers of His promised blessing In Jesus through the Gospel We are grafted in by the Father’s hand The kindness and severity of God through this His Gospel The Father formed His church to bring salvation to the earth His Son He made a Light to bring salvation to all nations
7.
We bow in reverent humility to You our God We beg with passionate sincerity to You our Lord Renew our hearts and minds with strength to follow with our lives Oh Father, help us follow Christ By the riches of Your glory, by the power of Your Spirit Father strengthen us to walk and Jesus walked By Your endless loving kindness, by Your unrestricted power Father strengthen us to love and Jesus loved Your saints are set apart, redeemed, forgiven, made alive Your church moves in one heart to tell the world of Jesus Christ Help us to vanquish sin, and persevere in righteousness Oh Father, make us more like Christ To God be all the glory in the church, in Jesus Christ To every generation, always to the end of time
8.
Help us walk in a manner, worthy of Christ Bearing fruit of Your Spirit in all of our lives Help us grow in the knowledge of You and Your truth Help us please You in all that we say and we do With humility, gentleness, patience, and love Bearing with one another as You do with us In all diligence striving for oneness and peace Persevering in goodness that faith may increase With compassion, forgiveness, repentance, and grace Showing kindness and mercy and love for Your saints Holding fast to Your truth so we are not deceived As the light of this world, may we shine faithfully
9.
The grace of God was given to each child of God in Faith And each child of God is gifted, by His Father made unique Jesus conquered sin and Satan, Rose in triumph over grave Now His Spirit fills the hearts of all His saints We are one, we are one One church, one call, one hope, one bond, one faith the saved are one We are one, like God is one Like the Trinity, unique unity We’re the church and we are one By His grace each saint is gifted and equipped to serve His church To instruct, support, discern and warn that all may stand mature To be grounded in the Scriptures, so that we are not deceived For the building up of all those who believe We are to grow into the image of Christ We are to know and to do what is right Jesus our Lord is our Shepherd and strength He will guide and abide in His sheep
10.
No longer walk, with a darkened mind Separated from God, being morally blind Do not live, with a hardened heart Being calloused and deaf to the calling of God We must strive to live our lives like Christ (x3) Humble and contrite Put off the old, Put on the new We have learned and know that this is true We’re created in the likeness of our God Put off the old, put on the new With our spirits and our minds renewed Imitating lovingkindness like our God So put away, Your old deceitful self Once corrupted by sin which resulted in death Now put on, your recreated heart Being righteous and holy, in the likeness of God Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, loving others Forgiving others just as God in Christ forgives
11.
We must lay aside deceitfulness and lies and always speak the truth In our anger we may never, ever sin, but in patience we forgive Put all bitterness, and wrath, and pride away Put forgiveness, love, and mercy on always (So Now) Put away all selfishness and pride Now put on humility and selfless love in Christ We must never steal but labor hard with skill and always share our gain We must never speak unwholesome, hurtful words, but we speak in truth and grace Do not grieve the Holy Spirit Obey His Word whenever you hear it Do not grieve the Holy Spirit
12.
Impurity nor greed, nor immorality Should ever, ever be in our walk No speech that is perverse, nor coarse and hurtful words Should evermore be heard when we talk As the children of God, we must walk in love As Jesus loved, giving His life, dying for us As the children of Light, we must sacrifice Giving our lives, fighting the fight, dying for Christ, dying for Christ No words that may deceive, nor dark unfruitful deeds Should ever, ever be in our lives All things will be exposed, All secrets will be known The dark is overcome by the Light We are imitators of our God Living now as children of the Light Learning what is pleasing to our Lord Striving now to live like Jesus Christ
13.
We’re to walk in love, just as Christ loves us We’re to give ourselves, as he gave his son Leave the wicked world behind Let no words deceive your mind Expose the darkness, shine a light Walk in wisdom, discerning what is right You were darkness once, now you are the light Doing what is good, what is true and right Put all foolishness aside Put on righteousness and light Awake, O sleeper, and arise From the dead and Christ will shine
14.
Awake, O sleeper Arise from the dead And Christ will shine on you Arise and shine your light has come The glory of God has risen upon Seek the Lord while He is found Call on Him while He is near Turn from sin in faith Repent For the Lord, through Christ, forgives
15.
Be careful how you walk, pure, and true, and wise Make the most of time in this life Do not be the fool, learn, and know, His truth, Imitate the character of Christ Being Spirit filled - Surrender to the Father’s will Being Spirit filled - Obeying all His Word reveals Being Spirit filled - Mercy, love, and truth reveal Those who are submissive to His will are Spirit filled Speak to one another now in psalms and hymns and songs Sing with melody to God, Rejoice in Christ alone Always giving thanks for everything we have in life Humble and submissive, growing in the fear of Christ
16.
Christ is the Head of the body, His body, the church, is His bride Selfless and humble, she gladly submits, Lovingly faithful to Christ Christ gave His life as a ransom The church is redeemed by His blood Selfless and humble, forsaking Himself In sacrifice for her good Husbands should lay down their lives for their wives As Christ gave His life for His bride Wives serve and honor your husbands in love This is the command of God Christ loves the church without measure And treasures His bride evermore Washing and cleansing His bride with His Word Presenting her holy and pure Christ is now joined with His body The two become one without end Eternally married forever to Christ The bride will abide in the Lamb Husbands should love and should cherish their wives As Christ glorifies His own bride Wives serve and honor your husbands in love This is the command of God
17.
Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right Children obey your parents in the Lord for this is right Honor, your father, and mother evermore When you obey them it pleases Christ our Lord
18.
The Lord corrects and disciplines His children whom He loves It is for discipline that we endure If we are without discipline then we are not His sons It is by discipline that we are sure The one who does not discipline, impedes and hates his son It is through discipline that we mature That we may share His holiness, He disciplines for good It is by discipline that we are pure Fathers raise your children faithfully, Through discipline and counseling Training and instructing them to follow Christ For it yields the fruit of righteousness To those who have been trained by it Guiding them, Abiding in the Word of life Parents do not break the spirit of your children Nor provoke your child to anger causing them to be embittered With compassion teach your child through admonition Always lavish them with wisdom, root the Word of God within them
19.
Slaves obey your human lords with fear and trembling Submit in love and reverence with generosity Not as pleasing men not only faithful when you’re seen Serve in honor from the heart with all sincerity (to Christ) In all you do, with all your soul With eager hands, not pleasing men, work hard to please the Lord In all you do, with all your heart As slaves of Christ, strive in this life, your Father will reward Masters treat your human slaves with love and charity Speak in truth and always show impartiality The Son of Man came serving and He humbly gave His life The Master washed His servants feet, now likewise image Christ Renew your mind, Retrain your heart, That you may know, the will of God Renew your mind , Retrain your heart The Word reveals the Father’s will be faithful where you are
20.
We must stand firm in this war
The enemy schemes to deceive and destroy With forces of darkness and sin That rage in the hearts and the minds of all men Put on the armor, Put on the armor of God
- Be strong in the Lord Put on the armor, Put on the armor of God - In the strength of His might Put on the armor, Put on the armor of God - Stand firm in the Lord Put on the armor, Put on the armor of God - For this day we will fight Our battle is not flesh and blood, But rulers and forces in wicked accord
The prince of the power of the air
The doctrines of hell that mislead and ensnare Gird your life with His truth Be holy and righteous Stand firm in good news Our Father will fight for us Take up the shield of the faith and Extinguish the arrows of Satan’s temptation Pursue rectitude, now crowned with salvation E’er wielding His truth, the sword of His Spirit Pray at all times in the Spirit Be careful, enduring in firm perseverance
21.
So that you may know, how it goes, and how I fare Tychicus will come, my faithful one, to meet you there So that you may know, be consoled, and rest your heart Though I am in chains, I still remain, in the hands of God I will wear these chains to declare your name my Lord Peace be to the brothers Love and faith from God the Father Grace to all who love the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
